Environmental Policy - March 2009

‘How Can We Help You?’ have energy strategies and a recycling scheme, encouraging staff to be more efficient in their use of equipment, materials and recycle more things more often. This helps to minimise landfill, reduce carbon emissions and improve our environment.
As we develop our business, we will conduct our own activities and operations to reflect best environmental practice, controlling both our direct impacts and the more significant indirect impacts resulting from the businesses we use and projects we support.
‘How Can We Help You?’ has therefore adopted the following Environmental Policy. We will:
 

• prevent pollution by controlling emissions to the environment;
• make more effective use of resources, particularly by recycling wastes and procuring recycled products wherever practicable; 
• develop a management system to implement our Environmental Policy and deliver continual improvement; 
• review our Environmental Policy annually and set new objectives and targets; and 
• communicate this policy to those working for and on behalf of the organisation to ensure understanding and delivery of our objectives.

In addition, ‘How Can We Help You?’ encourages its staff to be environmentally responsible in their personal lives and may support initiatives by individuals that contribute to its mission.


Energy Strategies

We are a member of “Green Achiever for Greener businesses” Establishing from Energy Saving Trust we have devised an action plan to reduce our Carbon Footprint:   Currently we have a carbon footprint of 12.2 tonnes of CO² P/A. Our Target before 2010 is to have a carbon footprint of 9.78 tonnes of CO² P/A. Wherever possible we try to use British or local produce, to reduce our ‘food miles’.

Recycling scheme

We recycle all our food waste, paper, cardboard, glass, cans, plastic and tins.        We also recycle our printer ink cartridges for charity. Purchasing recycled products wherever possible.

Due diligence with waste management, maintenance, health and safety ensure an effective policy.
